The ever-expanding field of vascular intervention has become increasingly complex, in part due to the explosive growth of new equipment and pharmacotherapy and also resulting from use of newer techniques. The modern interventionlist is presented with increasingly complicated patient profiles everyday; however definitive guidelines about many of these issues are lacking and are awaiting closer scrutiny of prospective randomized trials, some of which are still underway. Personal experiences as well as observational data still determine the practice of many operators and centers.
To answers some of these questions with particulars reference to the disease-pattern found in South-East Asia, the Pakistan Society of Interventional Cardiology is holding this meeting at Lahore in 2007. The contents of the interactive meeting include hot topics like primary PCI, Multi vessel angioplasty, drug-eluting stents, adjunctive pharmacotherapy and glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors, distal protection devices, thrombus management, vein-graft intervention, PCI for cardiogenic shock, small-vessel diffuse disease as well as long-term pharmacotherapy for patients.
